Partnership with De La Salle University to create an Internet Studies program that is the first of its kind in the Philippines. Program consists of graduate and undergraduate courses in e-governance, training programs for government officials, and applied research.
This research effort cataloged and analyzed the various attempts
to define ICT-society research and curricular agendas in leading
universities.
Practical assistance to public health nonprofit and public sector leaders in the developing world to develop information technology strategies that increase the efficiency of health care delivery and enable organizations and countries to develop public health policies based on analyses of public health data.
The Open Broadband Initiative (OBI) was founded in 2002 to
explore the economic development potential of locally controlled
open access end-to-end gigabit Internet. The OBI builds on
the early success of Washington State's public utility districts
in leading a revolutionary approach to delivering optical
Ethernet connections to thousands of homes and businesses
to underserved rural neighborhoods.
Many countries look to IT-enabled services as a way to benefit
from the Internet revolution. The purpose of this project
was to uncover the critical factors that a country needs to
address in order to promote the development of a viable IT-enabled
services outsourcing industry.
In 1997, the Center for Internet Studies commenced the Internet
Diplomacy Project, an ambitious multiyear program to explore
how the power of the web can be harnessed to bring international
diplomacy into the information age.
The Graduate Fellows program gave graduate students from
throughout the University the opportunity to become involved
in the Center’s research and programs on the intersection
of information technology and society. This group of graduate
students worked on open source software.
WebVision is the Center for Internet Studies' free eLearning
educational service. This archive contains over 80 hours of
streaming video from sponsored lectures, conferences and seminars
from around the world.
This consortium of National University of Singapore, Cambridge University, Seoul National University and University of Washington advanced interdisciplinary research of the information society through annual conferences and publications.
